Today I have re-designed my drawings because I decided that when i began editting my first drwings that they look too animated or had to much of a cartoon style to them. i decded that this was not apropriate for a horror film and because of this I have re-designed my images. I have printed a few images of some tall trees and I have drew a detailed background of some trees, I am going to add a picture in the fog of a man with a spade or something, I have not drawn this yet. I am going to be taking my work home to catch up on work now that I have decided I am giving it a new design. I have also drew a few ideas of some text that I can use for the movie text.

Today I have been drawing my final idea in best, I have drew it the best I can, I have then used a scanner to import the file to my computer, I have been editting my file in Photoshop.

02/01/07 - Digital Graphics

Today I have been writing a brief introduction about what I am going to be doing, I have explained that I am going to be looking at a variety of images, choosing a genre for my poster, looking at posters from the same genre and deciding how my poster should be presented from this. I will also be looking at the text ad how I am going to display that.

I also have been researching poster images, from horror to romance, I have written small paragraphs on each genre and I am going to use this to choose what type of genre I will be using for my film. I am then going to draw several sketches and choose a final one.

Today I have been designing some film posters that I am going to create and edit in Photoshop eventually. I have created 3 different film ideas, I have created one with a sort of documentary theme, it's about a terrorist that attacks new york in many different ways and an FBI agent has to stop him. I have created another film about some woods, it is a horror themed film and my final film is about scientists that are doing lab research on monkeys, they are injecting monkeys and testing products on monkeys and eventually a monkey turns undead and escapes from the lab facility infecting many people with a new disease called OMD.

During the holidays I am planning to do some more research on the subject of my film posters and choose a final film and design the poster in my best. I am also going to be creating some drafts of ideas and using them in a portfolio with my final work to show that I have been developing the work and it was not just my first idea.

Today I have been researching different genres of movie posters, I have been looking at the majority of movie posters and writing about how they are advertised as that type of genre in the poster. For example: Horror posters are often advertised with blood, dark images and colours.

I have also gathered a few movie posters images that I am going to use as examples for my work and the movie poster that I am going to be creating.

Today I have learnt how to use more of the Photoshop tools and I have learnt some of the shortcuts that can be used in Photoshop.

We started the lesson by taking an image of a woman's face, this woman had grey hair, wrinkles, dis-coloured teeth and some skin defects, I have used a variety of the tools in Photoshop to remove the wrinkles, put some colour back into her hair, make her teeth appear more white and remove any skin defects.

I have used a variety of tools including:
Brush
Eyedropper
Healing Brush
Clone Tool
Polygon Tool
Layers
Guides
elyptacol marquee.

I learned a few shortcuts too:
Apple + R = Guides (Rulers)
Apple + 0 = Zoom out
Hold Space Bar = Hand tool while working
Apple + D = de-select

I felt that I did a good job on Photoshopping the image although I may have went a little too far with her hair, I feel that I could have spent more time using the airbrush tool on her hair in detail and the results could have been better. Altogether I feel that I have done a good job on this image.

Today I have been using digital cameras and I have taken a photo of somebody, loaded the photo into photoshop and began editting the image by cropping it. I have learnt a lot of essential Photoshop skills and shortcuts taht I didn't know before. I have learnt how to use the 'magic wand' tool and the 'lasso' tool to crop images.

I have also learnt that you can use the + and - keys on the keyboard to zoom in or out of an image while modifying it.
